Our Approach to Curriculum
At The Learning Nest Academy, we believe that providing children with rich learning experiences and diverse teaching methods during the early years is essential, as 90% of a child’s brain develops before the age of five. Early education plays a pivotal role in shaping neural pathways, and our mission is to optimize brain development for future learning.
Our evidence-based curriculum combines three respected models, Montessori, HighScope, and Core Knowledge, enhanced by enrichment programs such as Baby Signs, STEM, and Jolly Phonics. We understand that each child’s educational journey is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs. Our goal is to ensure each child thrives!

Montessori
Montessori nurtures independence and curiosity through hands-on experiences, self-directed exploration, and a thoughtfully prepared environment. Its structured materials, designed with a clear beginning, middle, and end, make Montessori particularly effective for left-brain learners.
Core Knowledge
The Core Knowledge curriculum establishes a strong foundation across different subjects, fostering critical thinking. Its emphasis on active learning and open-ended experiences makes it particularly effective for right-brain learners who thrive on creativity, intuition, and independent thinking.
HighScope
The HighScope approach is rooted in active learning emphasizing hands-on experiences, child-led exploration, and intentional adult scaffolding to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a strong academic foundation. HighScope is used in our Infant and Toddler programs.
Enrichment Programs
Enrichment programs like Baby Signs, Second Step, STEM, and Jolly Phonics enhance key skills such as communication, social-emotional development, critical thinking, and literacy, providing children with well-rounded learning experiences that support their overall growth.
Learning Nest Programs
Infant
Age: 0-18 Months
Entrusting your infant to someone else for the first time can be a challenging experience for families. However, our compassionate and skilled Infant educators guide this transition with care, building strong, trusting relationships that help children flourish.
Toddler
Age: 18-30 Months
Our dynamic Toddler program encourages creativity and curiosity through engaging activities that nurture the whole child. Educators inspire a love of learning by guiding toddlers in purposeful play and discovery, fostering growth and exploration.
Preschool
Age: 2.5-4 Years
Unlike other daycares, our Preschool program is not play-based. It lays a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond, integrating Montessori and Core Knowledge to balance both left and right-brain learning, fostering a well-rounded academic and developmental experience.
Our Academies
For over two decades, our childcare centres have been dedicated to providing exceptional care for our families. Our approach to curriculum, bright, spacious facilities and wholesome nutrition program, overseen by a head chef and pediatric dietitian, ensure a comprehensive approach to your child’s development.
Nutrient-rich menus
The Learning Nest nutrition program subscribes to the healthy body, healthy mind way of life. The Learning Nest has a head chef and a pediatric dietitian guiding the development of the nutrition program. Under their watchful eye, this food program consists of menus that are nutritionally dense, seasonally appropriate, nut-free, locally sourced and made from scratch whenever possible. All while being delicious plus child and nutritionist approved!

- What age groups do you accommodate?
We accommodate infants through preschoolers. Find our infant daycare near you and experience how our private daycare programs provide a nurturing, high-quality early learning experience.
- What is the teacher-to-child ratio in each program?
Our teacher-to-child ratio adhere to Toronto daycare regulations, ensuring a safe and premium childcare experience. In our Infant daycare program, we maintain a 1:3 ratio, while Toddlers have a 1:5 ratio and our preschool programs feature a 1:8 ratio.
- Do you offer full-time and part-time enrolment options?
At our North York daycare and in the Junction Toronto, we offer a mix of full-time and 2-3 day part-time programs, all rooted in Montessori daycare principles to foster independent learning and growth.
