Nurturing curiosity and discovery

The toddler years are a time of exploration and growth, marked by milestones in language, motor skills, and social interaction. As toddlers navigate their world with curiosity, our educators channel this energy, developing the foundation for a lifetime of learning and discovery.

Children are introduced to an evidence-based, sequential learning model which incorporates a proprietary blend of the Montessori and HighScope curriculums, setting the foundation for future academic success and developing the whole child.

FAQs

Have questions? We’ve got answers! Learn more about what makes our childcare centres the perfect place for your little one to learn and grow.

  • What is the teacher-to-child ratio in the Toddler program?

In our Toddler daycare classrooms we maintain a 1:5 teacher-to-toddler ratio, adhering to Toronto daycare regulations, ensuring a safe and premium childcare experience.

  • What curriculum is included in the Toddler program?

Our Toddler program incorporates a proprietary, proven blend of HighScope and Montessori, providing a dynamic, child-centered approach to learning. This combination supports cognitive, emotional and social development in a nurturing environment, giving toddlers a strong foundation for future growth in our Montessori daycare and beyond.

  • Where are the Toddler programs located?

We offer our Toddler program at both Learning Nest Academy locations in Toronto. Families can choose either our North York centre or our Junction centre for their toddler. Both campuses feature the same high-quality Toddler curriculum and caring staff. Get in touch to find out which location has availability for your preferred start date. We’re happy to help you find a convenient spot for your family!

  • Do you assist with potty training in the Toddler program?

Absolutely. We’re here to help with potty training! Our educators collaborate with you when your toddler is ready to ensure a seamless potty training experience. We’ll follow the same routines and cues your child is used to at home, and provide gentle encouragement so they gain confidence. By working hand-in-hand with parents, we make this developmental milestone as stress-free as possible for you and your toddler.

  • What do toddlers learn and do in this program?

The Toddler program is all about nurturing curiosity and discovery. We support toddlers’ social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through engaging, play-based activities. At this stage, there’s a big focus on language growth, budding independence (e.g. self-feeding, tidying up), early socialization with peers, and lots of movement to hone gross motor skills. Toddlers have an enormous capacity to absorb new skills, so our educators channel their energy into purposeful play and guided exploration.

  • How do you keep parents updated on their toddler’s day?

We believe parent communication is key. Just like in our Infant rooms, toddler parents enjoy all-day camera access to see live video of the classroom whenever they wish. Our team also provides daily reports via the Kindertales app with updates on your toddler’s activities, meals, nap, and milestones. You’ll never miss what your little one is up to and we’re always available to chat about their progress.
