Infant Program

Early learning
Through thoughtful interactions, our educators form strong bonds with each child to create a sense of security that allows them to thrive. In conjunction with parents, our educators focus on engaging children’s natural curiosity in order to reach developmental milestones while caring for their individual emotional needs. Our program is adaptable to meet your baby’s unique needs and schedule. All of our Infant classrooms include a separate sleep room so babies can sleep on their own schedule and those that are awake, can engage in activities with their educators.

FAQs
We’ve got answers! Learn more about what makes our childcare centres the perfect place for your little one to learn and grow.
- What is the teacher-to-child ratio in the Infant program? We maintain a 1:3 teacher-to-infant ratio in our infant daycare classrooms. This low ratio (one educator for every three babies) meets Toronto’s daycare regulations, ensuring a safe and premium childcare experience.
- What curriculum is included in the Infant program? Our infant curriculum incorporates a proprietary proven blend of HighScope and Montessori methods, paired with Baby Signs (infant sign language), providing a dynamic, child-centered approach to learning. This combination supports cognitive, emotional and social development in a nurturing environment, giving infants a strong foundation for future growth in our Montessori-inspired daycare programs and beyond.
- Where are The Learning Nest Infant programs offered? The Learning Nest Academy has multiple childcare centres in Toronto, and our Infant program is offered at both of our locations. You can enroll your baby at our North York or Junction campus, whichever is most convenient for your family. Both locations provide the same loving infant care and early learning curriculum. Contact us to discuss current infant space availability at your preferred site.
- How do you help infants (and parents) transition into daycare for the first time?We know leaving your baby in someone else’s care for the first time can be daunting. Our experienced Infant educators build secure bonds with each child to ensure a smooth, loving transition. From day one, we focus on helping infants (and their parents!) feel safe and supported with lots of nurturing interactions, communication, and gradual adjustment as needed. This individualized attention makes the daycare transition much easier on families.
- Will my infant follow a set schedule or their own schedule? We adapt to your baby’s unique schedule and needs. Our Infant program is very flexible. Each infant can nap, feed, and play according to their individual routine. In fact, every infant classroom has a separate sleep room, so babies can sleep on their own schedule while awake infants engage in activities with educators. We partner with you to maintain your baby’s home routine as closely as possible for consistency and comfort.
- How will I receive updates on my infant’s day?We keep you closely informed about your little one. Parents get continuous updates and a daily report through our secure Kindertales app detailing naps, feedings, diaper changes, activities, and milestones, so you never miss a moment! We also offer all-day live camera access in our infant rooms, meaning your baby is never more than a click away and you can check in via live video at any time for peace of mind.
